What is naturopathy?
Naturopathy is the practice of health care based on the premise that the body has the innate ability to heal itself. It is concerned with investigating and aiming to resolve the cause of disease by looking at the health of each individual as a whole, not just as a set of symptoms or a disease state. A great emphasis is placed on prevention and empowering each individual to take responsibility for their own health. Treatment protocols can include a combination of nutritional, herbal and lifestyle interventions to address and support both physical and emotional well being,

What can I expect during a consult?
We take the time to get to know you, your health status and your health goals, taking into consideration all aspects of physical and emotional well being through an in-depth consultation process.
Each initial consult is pre-empted with a questionnaire which we send to you and kindly ask you to complete before coming to your appointment. This ensures that the time we spend with you is focused correctly in gathering as much information as possible in order to formulate an appropriate treatment plan.
Follow up consults are recommended initially weekly for three weeks to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan, as well as ensure your expectations are being met. Subsequent follow up consultations are scheduled on a case by case basis depending on the complexity of your health goals.
During consults we encourage you to ask plenty of questions and to be honest in your communication with us so that we can be successful in our ultimate endeavour of helping you achieve your health goals.

Can I claim the cost of my consult through private health insurance or Medicare?
A number of private health insurers recognise naturopathic services, so depending on you level of cover you may be eligible for a rebate. Unfortunately there is no current Medicare rebate available.

What will be included in my treatment plan?
Each treatment plan is individualised based on your health needs and goals. It may be as simple as applying some lifestyle modifications, or it may include herbal and/or nutritional supplementation. At times you may also be referred to other allied health professionals, such as physiotherapists, chiropractors, etc. All treatment plans are formulated to ensure they integrate seamlessly with any current medications or supplements you may be taking.

Will any tests be performed to help formulate my treatment plan?
Pathological tests are extremely helpful in providing an insight into the underlying cause of disease, and as such you may be referred to undertake certain tests to assist in formulating an accurate treatment plan. These tests are performed by a third party and so may incur additional charges.

What happens if I miss an appointment?
We understand that things don't always go to plan and that on occasion an appointment may need to be cancelled and rescheduled. In such an event we ask you to please notify us at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. Due to demand however, we regret to advise that a missed appointment without 24 hours notice will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
